When @seemanetwork approached me about a cover story, I asked if they would celebrate the 'buzz.' It's not often we see someone who likes like I do now on the cover of a magazine. Fleabag aptly says, 'Hair is everything!' Well hair for an Indian woman is next level shit. My relationship with my hair and ultimately my idea of beauty has evolved and continues to as I hike along my #fuckcancer journey. I am still in the thick of it but what I know for sure is my girls know we can rock through it all. Thank you to the whole SEEMA team for embracing this vision and giving me a day where I felt feminine and strong in a way I haven't in a long time. Over 10 years ago, I met this amazingly powerhouse couple that is @hananfkattan and @shamimsarif. I had the privilege of playing a character based on Shamim in I CAN’T THINK STRAIGHT and went on to make THE WORLD UNSEEN with them. Those films have made a profound impact on me and so many around the globe. These ladies pushed the envelope before it was cool to do so. Shamim has a new book out today, ‘The Athena Protocol.’ Get it friends. Her writing is so beautiful and original. So happy I was able to support at the NY book launch. We missed you @lisaraniray!

Thank you READ USA!! This amazing group brings book fairs to schools and makes sure kids get to go home with 3 books each- free. It’s incredible to see a child’s face when they are given a book of their own. It’s staggering how many kids have never owned a book. Incredible few days in Jacksonville, FL w this team, working w their schools. Community showed up and it was invigorating. I was honored to deliver a keynote at their fundraising luncheon and receive love alongside others doing great work. Humbled to be in the company of Gandhi’s grandson, a Holocaust survivor and local police star who’s doing tremendous outreach.
